We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Senior Civil Engineer within the DuPage County Stormwater Management Department.

The list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all the duties and responsibilities performed by positions in this class.
  • Reviews development plans for compliance with DuPage County Countywide Stormwater and Flood Plain Ordinance, as well as other State and Federal regulations
  • Advises private builders, subdivision developers and others regarding stormwater regulations and localized drainage solutions
  • Performs hydrologic and hydraulic analysis related to project design, watershed planning, floodplain mapping, and project permitting
  • Completes design and prepares permits for in-house drainage and stormwater projects
  • Oversees work performed by consultants or assigned staff on a wide variety of projects
  • Assists with County’s Voluntary Buyout Program
  • Prepares grant applications for funding opportunities 
  • Plans and assigns work, gives instructions and provides guidance on engineering problems 
  • Leads the work of professional and technical employees engaged in the preparation of designs, plans, estimates and preliminary reports for County construction and improvement projects
  • Makes field inspections on work in progress and completed projects
  • Prepares and/or leads the preparation of plans and contracts
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved program, and two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
This position requires a valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Illinois.
The preferred candidate will possess:
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Certification
